Act to Protect Fremantle’s Future
I have tabled a petition in the Legislative Assembly with 442 signatures, calling on the State Government to take steps to ensure the built heritage and human scale of Fremantle is protected.
The council needs to start listening to the community on this. The fact that hundreds of Fremantle people have signed this petition to our parliament should be a wakeup call. It’s not too late for the Council to get this right.
The City of Fremantle insists it has the community’s support and yet in a community survey it has finally released after it was completed nearly a year ago, we have just learned that only 34% of those surveyed agree with the Council’s desire for high rise.
Fremantle is unique and we need to protect our heritage – this is what makes Fremantle special.
