Wyola Club

I have written to the Commissioner for Consumer Protection urging her to apply to the Supreme Court to have the Wyola Club wound up so that the matter of the ownership of the Bannister Street properties can be resolved once and for all. This represents an ideal test case to see whether the Commissioner is empowered under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987 to have the property returned to a properly constituted committee for distribution. The Commissioner has the power to have the club wound up by the Supreme Court where the association has acted oppressively in relation to its members – see section 31(1) (g) of the Associations Incorporation Act 1987.
